I was delighted when Maria and Tom asked me to design and print their wedding invitations for their wedding in Mauritius as love a challenge! They had an idea in their heads what they wanted which was a Pirates of the Caribbean feel but not too literally, to feature a Dodo which appears on the Coat of arms of Mauritius and a Frangipani flower. They chose to go with 100% cotton handmade paper from India which fitted the design perfectly with it's beautiful natural deckled edge. The initial design needed some colour but the irregularity of the deckled edge means it's impossible to register a second colour on the press. Solution, to hand water colour each invite with several washes of colour. Thankfully I have a huge long table so I could layout all 80+ invites to form a production line! I'll never forget the squeals of delight when Maria & Tom rang me to say their invites had arrived, they were so excited! The joy in their voices was so wonderful to hear, that's what make my job so worthwhile!
Have to say thanks to Maria & Tom not only for putting their trust in me but also because the making of their invitations was the inspiration behind the Natural Elements Collection, you now have me hooked on deckled edge paper!
I shall leave the last words to Maria & Tom...
